Alex Kitner

Just announced, Alex Kitner, 10, of Mayfair Court was killed in what appears to have been a viscous shark attack. 

Kitner was enjoying the beautiful day at Village Beach with his friends while floating on a rubber raft in the water when all of a sudden he was attacked. Eye witnesses said that they couldn't identify the predator.  His bloody damaged raft floated ashore shortly after the incident with what appeared to be a large bite out of it. 

“We hasten to ask the press to not to jump to any conclusions regarding the perpetrator or perpetrators in this tragic incident, said Amity Village police chief, Martin Brody.

Alex’s mother, Marion Kintner, was at the beach during the attack, and is being treated for shock at Amity General Hospital.

“I join Amity Mayor Vaughn in expressing the town’s deepest and most sincere condolences to the Kintner Family,” said Brody.

The Amity Village Police are still under investigation of the tragic death of 17 year old girl Chrissie Watson.  Her mangled body was found early this morning washed up on South Beach in Amity Island. 

Watson was last seen alive leaving a beach party with another teen around 11pm. Watson decided to go swimming and entered the water at a remote section of South Beach near the South Beach Shoal bell buoy. 

After brief search, Watson’s body was found high up on the top of the dunes by Police Deputy Jay Hendricks early this morning on South Beach. Hendricks said Watson's body was severely mauled by an attacker of an unknown origin. 

According to Hendricks, Watson's mauled body has been transported to the coroner's office for autopsy. 

          The Amity Village Police now believe that it may be possible that Watson's death could also maybe have been possibly linked to possible shark activities in the vicinity of Amity.
          According to Brody, no charges have yet to be filed in both cases, though a shark attack has not been completely ruled out. Brody said that there has been no history of shark attacks on Amity Island, but will investigate further once the autopsy has been revealed. 
          The Amity Village Police said that  they want to assure all residents and visitors that they are in no danger. The beaches will remain open for swimming pending on the outcome of the investigation.

          A special meeting will be held by the mayor, police chief, and the Amity Board of Selectmen at 6pm today in the Town Hall. Here they will discuss the closing of beaches and reward of $3000 for capturing the unknown predator.
